Y'all should be so proud of me today.
I'm sharing photos of my master bedroom even though it's not done, and there are a few parts of the room that actually give me the hives. Look at me, stepping out of my comfort zone. (I even made the bed -- and I admit, I'm not a bed maker... I shoot for 50% of the time and call it good)
You know what? I'm willing to bet that most of us live in works-in-progress, not perfect model homes. Perfect doesn't exist in my little world!
So...um... sorry about the picture heavy post. I wanted to establish a baseline for cuteness so any future projects and reveals would be greeted with appropriate awe.
See the dent at the foot of the bed where the cat has assumed permanent residence?
Yeah, me too.
Yeah, that's right, those are paint chips! Oy, I have an illness.
Can't. Stop. Painting. Go...get...help.
Ahem.
Ahem.
It's not my fault that Sherwin Williams "Comfort Gray" reads completely blue in that room. And I do not want frosty blue walls in my dark little bedroom.
And it's also not my fault that I went ahead and painted the ceiling a coordinating lighter shade so my (one-day-it-will-be) white crown would pop.
And it's also not my fault that I went ahead and painted the ceiling a coordinating lighter shade so my (one-day-it-will-be) white crown would pop.
Well, okay... that last one was sort of my fault. I guess I didn't have to paint the ceiling if I wasn't sold on the wall color. But it was shiney, people! Anything's better than a high gloss 1960's ceiling, right??
You may have noticed that I have unpainted crown molding, no baseboards, zero cuteness happening on my nightstands (aside from my most-awesome-lamps-ever-that-I-lurve) and the worst thing of all...
OH. So very ugly. Makes me so very sad.
Want to know what makes me even more sad? How small the closet behind those ugly doors is -- and no, you don't get a picture. Just take my word for it.
So what do you think?

Love the chandelier. Aren't they so perfect in a bedroom?! We have an ugly ceiling fan, sigh! Nice color scheme, too.
ReplyDeleteLooks awesome! I love that comforter...it's looks so cozy :) Thanks for visiting Greener Grass!
ReplyDeleteI L-O-V-E your pintuck bedding and the shade on your light. Great colors.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing!
I think you should add some heavy, nice mirrored bifold doors to your closet. Don't go cheap, get good ones. They will brighten your room and reflect your beautiful chandelier. Oh, and put pretty glass knobs on them.
ReplyDeleteI totally understand the smallest master bedroom in the world syndrome.. I have it's twin in my house... LOL You are doing a great job.. I like the color.. You can come over and check my master bedroom redo in progress at Bluefamilyscene.blogpsot.com
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!! :O)
Your MB is beautiful!! That bedding and chandelier are just yummy. I've been looking through your blog and really enjoying myself so I'm a new follower! :)
ReplyDeleteYour bedroom is really nice already! Did you put up the crown by yourselves - it looks great! I want to learn how to do that :-) And your chandelier is awesome! The wall color looks nice on my monitor, but I know what it is like to go on the walls completely different. I went through at least 10 samples when doing my daughter's room recently. Just became a new follower especially seems as I have a 2 1/2 yr old I'm about to start potty training, how is it going for you now?!
ReplyDeleteI love blue paired with black-and-white damask - so classy and calm. You have wonderful taste.
ReplyDeleteYou could fake some texture on your closet doors by making rectangles with half-round trim. You could even fill the center with beadboard. And maybe some fancy antique crystal drawer pulls for the knobs... I kind of love it.
I think it looks fab! Hey we have the same chandy (mine's black and in the dining room) Love how it looks, the curtains are great! ann at housefinally.blogspot
ReplyDeleteI think your room is gorgeous! I know what you mean about itsy bitsy master bedrooms and living in constant works in progress. I am working on our bedroom too and your is such an ispiration! Keep up the phenomenal work!
ReplyDeleteI love all the special touches. It is absolutely gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteI would love to have you enter this on my party at ItsSoVeryCheri.com and then over at our other site theDIYClub.com We have a weekly DIY Living party over there.

Great progress! I love your curtains!
ReplyDeleteLookin' good so far! Okay, we are running pretty close in the "smallest master bedroom" contest. Mine is about the same size as yours! And we only have a FULL size bed, not even a queen!! LOL And we have that same small and frumpy closet . . but we make do and it looks like you are too!! I am sure the room will be super fabulous when you get 100% done. Love the iron bed!!
ReplyDeleteOk I absolutely LOVE the look and feel of your room! It is what I've had in my head all along and couldn't figure out! How on Earth did you get your hubby to agree with a white comforter though? Haha! Seriously, your master is gorgeous! And the lamps, TO. DIE. FOR.

I really love the colors, serene but also warm... that shade of gray on the walls is the best! and the sisal rug against the wood floors is beautiful. So, what did you end up doing with those closet doors??
ReplyDeleteSo pretty. You're very talented. Who cares if the master bedroom is small. We have a small one too...it doesn't lok as pretty as your room does. Really, Really great job.
ReplyDeleteJust stumbled over here and you crack me up! There is so much stuff you've done on here that I've done this year! (The distressed chalkboard (mine is a bulletin board), the faux mercury glass, and now the master bedroom makeover! We even have the same mirror hanging and I was planning on using SW comfort grey! I think I'll have to paint a test splotch because yours turned so blue on you!) One thing I'm drying to know is where that chandelier came from in the master! Lurve it!!! Great stuff on here!
ReplyDeleteYou make me want to redo my bedroom and add a cute chair! I agree with the mirrors on the doors like they did at The Lettered Cottage.
ReplyDeleteOkay, I need to know the story behind the chandelier and how to make or where to buy one! LOVE!!!!
ReplyDeleteLOVE your blog- just came across it on pinterest. I am in the process of redoing my master and I am curious where you got your bed frame from?
ReplyDeleteThanks Dana! It's actually from Pier 1 a long time ago. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm late to the party, but loving your chandelier. where is it from or how did you make it. Thanks :)
