Vanilla Chai Sugar Scrub

This morning as I tried out my brand new eye makeup (that is pretty awesome) before taking my boys to school, I had a little conversation in my head. Don't worry, this is totally normal... for me. It went like this:
"Oh Wesley, your school calendar says you get to make jingle bell necklaces today - how fun!"

Hmm... that reminds me, I keep forgetting to get those Christmas stickers his teachers asked for. They said the earlier the better so I definitely need to get that done before the last day of school.

... and I should take care of teacher gifts too -- putting those off to the last minute is no good.

Just as long as I don't turn those stickers in on the last day before vacation starts and look like a slacker. I'll just take them when Wes goes back to preschool on Thursday... I'll still have a week of school left then, right? When does vacation start, anyway?

Oh, snap.

That was me, realizing that I suck a whole bunch and somehow this is the last week of school before Christmas here. Oops. (Full disclosure: snap was not really the 4-letter word I said in my head.)

Ahem. Time to get crackin' on those teacher gifts, y'all.

My super prepared master plan called for homemade sugar scrub + hand cream + little Barnes & Noble gift card.  It was time for action! I ran around like a mini-maniac this morning, gathering supplies, then turned my kitchen into a disaster area all afternoon. Just another day in the life, y'all.

Vanilla Chai Sugar Scrub
1 c. granulated sugar
1 c. brown sugar
6 chai tea bags, opened
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. honey
2/3 c. olive oil
1 tsp. vanilla

Combine sugars with contents of chai tea bags and cinnamon. Pour mixture into container then add honey and oil and mix well. Add oil until your desired consistency is reached, then finish by mixing in the vanilla.

Anna,

Just found your blog and love it. Definitely be back. Loved the tutorial on the mercury glass immitation and the sofa table. Since you like to build things you need to check out "Sawdust and Paper Scraps". She is making the most amazing custom closet I have ever seen. No, I'm not related or receiving anything for the plug - just thought you might be interested.

This is fabulous....great present for ME, as long as I don't eat it.

Love this idea!! How many containers do you need?

It just depends on the size of them... just look at how much sugar you use and find containers that match. I used little quilted jam jars and those dollar store ones in the photos (which held a LOT more, I'd use smaller ones in the future for gifts...)
