My front room plans were temporarily derailed by our impulse decision to become chicken farmers, since right now all our extra DIY cash is going toward materials for that little endeavor... I'll allow you a moment for boos and hisses.
I won't deny that a small part of me looks at the chickens and sees my board and batten plans go up in smoke. I may or may not cry myself to sleep regularly over the whole mess. Okay, I don't cry. But still, building a coop costs money that I'd much rather be spending on other things. I'm sure it will be cute(ish) when it's done, but it's just not the same! Those chickens better appreciate it.
For the time being I'm practicing the art of being content without knocking holes in things or nailing bunches of new things to my walls. It's kind of tricky, but I do have a few ideas of things to keep my busy!
Idea: paint the backs of my living room bookshelves.
The old Anna would have said, "oh, no! I paid someone to paint those white. What if I get tired of it?"
The new Anna says, "um, you'll buy a can of white paint. Get over it."
I like this new Anna. She's the kind of gal I'd like to hang out with. Unfortunately, she's still lacking in the decisiveness department (unless it's a decision for someone else - she was born to boss. especially boys.).
I've been throwing a few ideas for colors around the last week or so, and this morning I finally used some photos to magically paint the shelves of my design board in Photoshop.
Option 1: nameless, made up Peacock blue-ish color:
Option 2: BM's Wythe blue (which I love and was leaning toward using in my front room project that was brutally and callously put off in an explosion of poultry)
Option 3: navy (pulled from the rug I wanted but Mike said I couldn't have because carpet + rug + rug = bonkers... which I secretly knew too. sigh.)
Option 4: nameless, made up mustard color:
I have opinions. Oh, you bet your sweet flapjacks I do. Honestly, I lean toward either Wythe Blue or the navy. I love Wythe Blue, always have, but I also like the idea of a darker color like the navy grounding the space. Since I can't have a rug and love how the color looks in the room. Boo hoo.
What do you guys think, though? Do you think I'm nutty? Do you have any idea where 'bet your sweet flapjacks' came from? Me neither. Pass the coffee; I need more since I spilled a full cup down the side of my stove this morning... gar, Mondays!

I love the navy too! That's my vote plus when you did get a really great rug then it will coordinate ;)
I vote Wythe blue! Gorgeous!!

Wythe :)
I really like either the Wythe blue or the peacock tealish color. They both look fab!
I thought it was the Wythe until I saw the navy - definitely the navy!
I think the Wythe Blue complements the rest of the room the best. However, if you're dying for a pop of bold color, then definitely the navy.
You have a lot of cool textiles in that room though, so there are a lot of options that will look great. Good Luck!
The navy! It brings in some sophistication!
wythe! it keeps the room calm and fresh and adds to the cottage feel the room has already- which btw i love. :)
I would love, love to have some chickens, it's prohibitive where I live.
Oh, they will love it and so will you when you get all those eggs.
I like the blue.
I love LOVE option 1. I've been digging that peacock color lately!
Made up peacock blue for sure. It's super pretty against the white and compliments all of your colors without being too matchy. <3 it. :)
I love the Wythe! It is soothing and airy feeling.
The Wythe would be really gorgeous with accessories in front of it -- they would really stand out.
Yeah, I definitely vote for the Wythe blue too. Not just because it happens to be my absolute favorite color in the universe, but because I think it goes with the fabrics you've picked out without drawing too much attention to it. Or maybe you *do* want more attention drawn to it - then I'd go with something a few shades darker/richer.
BTW - a friend of ours has chickens. I think it must be a poultry owner thing because she's a little crazy about them too. They are pretty spoiled little feathery beasties. But the eggs are definitely better than you can get in the store. Much richer.
Call me crazy, but I like the peacock. It's a little more out there than the navy and the light blue, but on the backs of the shelves, it'll be a little more subdued, I think.
I like the wythe blue. I like the navy but you'd need more dark to tie it all together. Just my opinion. And opinions are like... Well you know.

Wythe blue or Mustard!!
i really like the minty colored one, but i think the navy would be better since it pops more. you could try wallpapering it as well!
