Ack! Halloween is in just over two weeks. How did that sneak up on me? Usually by this time I've already bought a bag or two of Halloween candy on an early sale so I could pat myself on the back for getting such an awesome deal, and then accidentally eaten it. (Note: buying Halloween candy before the 28th or 29th of the month is a bad, bad idea.)
Last night I finally threw a few Halloween decorations around my house.
(P.S. Thank you to my fabulous brother for gifting my kiddos peacock feathers when we were at the zoo last weekend, so I could steal them for my Halloween display. I? am a bad, bad mom.)
See that little owl? Aww. A couple weeks ago I found some silver mercury glass owls at TJ Maxx and I squealed with love and excitement. And then I noticed that every. single. one. was broken. Darn those fragile owl ears. A couple days ago I went back and found colored ones, and I was initially a little bummed but now I think I might like my little orange dude even more than the silver original.
He's frosted but has the mercury glass treatment underneath... very cute and only $5.
I'm also working on costume ideas. My oldest son begged me to buy him a Captain America costume this year ("Only this year mom, it would be way too hard for you to make. Next year you can make me one again!") so I gave in. My younger son wants to be a spy kid, so I'm working on a fun little costume for him complete with spy kid jet pack:

(Update: See my version of this jet pack!)
You can see what we've done in years past here. What are your Halloween costume plans?
