The Mario party was on Saturday, and we got through it in one piece. Well, each of us in our own respective piece, not all of us squashed together into one... never mind. You understand, I'm sure.
Here is one of the tables, this one had drinks and favors.
We gave each guest a question mark box when they went home, but they also got a Mario hat and moustache right when the party started.
The kids sat outside. I filled metal buckets with rocks (in saran wrap, of course!) and topped them with potato chips, then used the buckets as weights for the balloons.
The food table:
There were two types of cupcakes, Mario & Luigi brick pizza squares, rainbow colored skittles, red grapes (fireballs) and marshmallows on sticks dipped in light blue candy melts and topped with snowflake sprinkles (iceballs).
And of course, I forgot to take photos of the cute marshmallow treats. Oh well!
The party started with some Mario-themed coloring while we waited for everyone to arrive...
Then we played games, including "Stomp the Goomba" (Goombas = bad guy mushrooms) which the boys loved.
We also played Mario Bingo with sheets that I made a month or so ago.
Aidan blew out his candles...
The boys participated in the birthday gift bumrush (why give someone breathing room when you can sit on their lap while they open gifts?)
...and posed for some group photos (which I'll be using for the thank you cards)
The birthday boy loved it, and I'm glad that I kept the food and decorations relatively simple (even if my husband thinks I went overboard... he needs to start searching party themes on blogs to gain some perspective . Oy.)
{You can see the invitations and the favor box/Mario hat details in past posts.}

OMG. I bow to your awesome party skills. I hope my kids don't EVER find this page and find out what they missed out on in their younger years...
ReplyDeleteWhat an adorable birthday party! Stomp the Goombas is a great party game. Great job on the party. I'm sure he loved it.
ReplyDeleteAwesome party! And I love your comment at the end ;)
ReplyDeleteTotally amazing and fabulous!!!!!! Relating here to the Buffmeister...
ReplyDeleteIt looks like it turned out great! The photos are wonderful and you had such great ideas!
ReplyDeleteAmazing job for real! (:
ReplyDeleteThe party looks great! Good to see that someone else is using a non-typical birthday theme and not going overboard. It is very hard to keep it simple. I'm doing Dr. Suess in a few months and not sure how i'm going to keep it low key. Again, great job!
ReplyDeleteLooks like they had a lot of fun! Cute idea.
ReplyDeleteThis looks awesome!!!!! I love all the little details. My kiddo would have loved this!

Have a great weekend,

I would love to know where you found the hat and moustaches. :)
ReplyDeleteLaura, the moustaches are from Oriental Trading Company, and the hats are dollar store red hats with a felt cut out on them. I used a Mario font online to make the template. Hope that helps!
ReplyDeleteMy sister stumbled upon this and sent it to me. I have a toddler who just adores Mario (mostly for his jumping ability). He wears his Wisconsin hat (red with a a W) everywhere and calls it his Mario hat. He even has asked for a mustache. He turns 3 this fall. Wouldn't be surprised if some of your ideas made an appearance at his party. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI would love to know where you got question mark boxes so cute
