I just got back from my local Habitat for Humanity Restore, where I was pretending that this week of sickness hadn't happened by looking for windows to use when we build the chicken coop... I didn't find any windows, but I found something else. Something I couldn't leave the store without.
Has that ever happened to you? You're not quite sure what you'll do with it, but you see it and you can't stop thinking about it. This song is playing in your head... "loooovin' yoooouu, is easy 'cause you're beautiful..." (Interesting tidbit: did you know that the late Minnie Riperton is Maya Rudolph's mom?)
I digress. I saw this giant piece of rusty aqua-colored metal as tall as I am, and I knew it must be mine. My precious.
How lucky am I? I didn't even knew I needed a rusty tailgate... but I did. And I love it. Love love love love love it.

So Jealous!!!! Love it!!!
Me likey...just emailed my husband that now we need to look for one! Aqua is my thing lately!! Can't wait to see what you do with it!
O.M.Gee...the patina is to die for! The colors are perfect! Love!
Very cool find. Scrap yards/ pick-and-pulls are great for that type of thing. Just a heads up if anyone is looking for old metal things.

Lucky girl!! I love those colors... Rust is one of my favorite things... I am jealous!!!
Just when I thought I put my green monster to bed!!! I want your tail gate.
Oooooh that IS lovely! A very delicious slice of retro Americana. :)
Oh I would love that! I would probably mount it as a drop-down shelf in the family room - you could lower it like a real tailgate and put drinks and snacks on it.
Such a cool find! We'll all be looking forward to seeing what creative use you put it to, though it's pretty darn cool just leaning against your living room wall.
I love it. And want to know what your hubs said when you walked in the door.
PS. Yes, I am stalking/catching up on your blog, forgive the millions of comments....
